The Rural Lonely

The Rural Lonely is a 6’2″, heavily tattoo’d gentle giant who shares an unexpected sensitivity through country flavoured songwriting.

Not afraid to buck the trend, Ryan crafts songs that pose questions against the modern norms and darker problems in today’s world.

Ryan is the multi instrumentalist and sole songwriter, inspired by his upbringing and new life as a father to two boys. Everyone wants to be rural, but no one wants to be lonely.

Feeling desolate in his Scottish village, he lives his Nashville dream through this project.

Although a single figure, Ryan performs with professionally created backing tracks adding subtle layers, elevating a typical acoustic performance.

Harmonies, piano and percussion make acoustic covers and interpretations of full band originals, engage crowds at venues large and small.

Ryan is influenced by the authenticity and originality of the likes of City & Colour, the raw instrumentation of Luke Combs and the rough vocal style of Riley Green.

He writes sounds and words that you can sing along to, while questioning the topics and problems explored.

The Rural Lonely has released a series of singles, culminating in Ballet or Bouts. It is a ballad to Ryan’s two young sons, a commitment that, whatever hobby or passion they develop in life, he will be behind them 100%, whether it is ballet dancing or boxing bouts.

He is working on his debut album for release soon.
