Born and raised on the outskirts of London, Travis Kray‘s musical journey truly began at 19, when he spent a year busking on the streets of Paris and Amsterdam. “If you wanted lunch, you played until you had money for a sandwich. In the afternoons, you played to earn enough for a place to stay that night,” he recalls. “It was tough at times, but always fantastic. Best musical education ever – I wouldn’t change that year for anything!”
Soon after, Travis’s wanderlust led him to California, where he eventually made a home, splitting his time between the U.S. and Europe. As a singer-songwriter, he found early success performing in iconic Los Angeles venues such as the Whisky-A-Go-Go and the Roxy on the famous Sunset Strip. He later teamed up with other musicians to form a full band, playing the best venues in the LA area for several years, earning critical acclaim, and building a loyal following.
Now back as a solo artist, Midas Touch is an advance release from his upcoming album Westward Ho, due later this year. Recorded in both Nashville and California, the album title is a nod to Travis’s musical journey thus far, although he is quick to say “This is an exciting time for country music, and nowhere is that more evident than in Britain!”. He adds: “There’s been a great evolution of artists, a huge growth in the listener base, I can’t wait to set up some UK and European tour dates and be a part of that firsthand!”
The UK leg of the Westward Ho tour is currently set for early 2026, with some acoustic shows possible in late 2025. After all, what’s more country than “bringing it on home”?!
