The ethos of The Dolby Gang is to “Fill Ya Boots With Country”, to spread the enjoyment and pleasure of country music to both current and next generation fans, and to keep the music LIVE! We believe it doesn’t have to be from a certain age to be good. If it sounds good, it is good, as long as it’s a COUNTRY SONG! – we hope you enjoy our take on some of country’s finest.
Our country style ranges from traditional to modern influences however we make no bones about it, we tend to really like 90s honky tonk and classic country the most.
As more young people are getting into country these day’s, we are finding they are interested in the heritage of the music and we keep getting asked (and booked) to play a lot more of the classic stuff live (especially with the steel guitar on board).
The group was brought together initially during the covid pandemic from a bunch of seasoned musicians where our love of country music brought us together, and, as we are relatively close to each other in the East Midlands, this turned out to be a bonus for us as it meant we can get together more often in person as needed, which is great for getting a tight outfit.
We were also very fortunate when we started out where a couple of country music festival promoters (good friends of us now, that we will be forever grateful to) took us on board after seeing our online sessions during Covid and helped us out with gigs initially, and since then it has snowballed. We now play most (if not all) of the provincial festivals across the UK as well as country events and country music clubs.
2025 was a highlight for us as we were invited to perform at the UK Country Music Awards ceremony which was a great honour.
As we are so busy with playing live, we do find it difficult to find time to get other things done. However, we will be prioritising more time in the studio for recording and releases. This will also include originals as we already have enough material for a couple of original albums.
Although we started off playing covers, what we found interesting after we started was, we have multiple song writers in the group, each with their own style, which means our live sets these days incorporate both covers and originals.
Our first album Fill Ya Boots with Country Vol 1 came out a couple of years ago and our next covers album, focused on classic country, is due to be released in Spring 2026.
As with any group that has been together for the length of time we have, we sometimes have band members who come and go, and, for us, a special mention goes to one of our original foundation members who has just recently stepped back from gang duties and is taking a well-earned rest from playing the country circuit.
Without Steve’s involvement we wouldn’t be where we are today with his “doghouse” style of bass playing and his unique take on the country style. As a result, he will be missed by all of us.
Moving forward, you will find Steve playing predominantly in and around the Mansfield Acoustic & Folk Scene and we all wish him the very best for the future.
Hopefully, from time to time, he will make a guest appearance somewhere down the road.
At the heart of it, we are mostly at home doing what we love doing, playing live, whether it’s the full band or acoustic shows.
Come and say “hi” if you see us on the road or you can catch us on social media where you can subscribe and give us a few likes. Peace and love to all.
