Paul Copestake

PAUL COPESTAKE is a singer-songwriter from Peterborough. He has been performing on the club circuit as a soloist for about fifteen years and is a popular face around the Cambs and Norfolk area.

Paul recalls the first time he heard the Elvis Presley song don’t be cruel. “I found it in my mother’s record collection. It was the mid-seventies and I was about ten years old. The song blew me away, I played it over and over and never tired of listening to it”. It was Elvis Presley that first grabbed Paul`s musical attention. From there his passion for rock and roll, country and blues expanded with his own record collection, with inspirational artist like Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and the Everly brothers to name just a few.

Paul wrote his first song in 2001 called “So Alive”, a country rock song that reached number 4 in the independent country Hotdisc chart, gaining great comments from people in the music industry. From there he went on to gain a number 1 spot in the NCM Hotdisc chart with his thought provoking song called “God only knows”.

Paul’s passion for song writing keeps growing. He is still ambitious to reach his potential as a song writer, and connect to a wider audience. Although music is not his full time profession he still has a dream alive to make it so one day, and grab any opportunities that might come along. ‘There`s only so much time that you can devote to your passion when it`s not your main job, but I am determined to get my first album out in the near future, and I hope that my latest song ‘Memphis’ will give people a taste of things to come, and capture a good helping of country, rock and roll and roots music.’
