With over five decades in music, the 67-year-old Glasgow-based singer-songwriter is taking a walk over country lands and bringing some “honest-to-goodness country music” to his body of work. His new EP, filled with old-fashioned heartbreak songs driven by in-depth storytelling, raw vulnerability and poetic precision, began as an experiment on John’s part on how to work online internationally, exploring new ways to create art and connect with other musicians across the globe.
John said embracing country music came from a desire to keep his art fresh: “I have explored music on many fronts over the years, from rock to gospel, and right now there’s so many great things coming from country artists that I admired and it made me inspired to put my own print into it”.
