David Wainwright

David Wainwright is a singer/songwriter from a former mining town Coalville, Leicestershire. He picked up his guitar during the Covid-19 pandemic having neglected it for many years and eventually joined a local country band as a guitarist, harmonica player and backing singer. After a couple of years gigging in the band he decided to become a solo acoustic musician playing mainly country cover songs with a bit of soul thrown in.

David has gigged around Leicestershire over the last year and this has given him the chance to hone his skills as a songwriter. His influences range from Billy Bragg and Paul Heaton to Johnny Cash, Joni Mitchell, Dolly Parton and Tom Petty. He prefers classic, soulful country music to the more modern styles and his songwriting style and choice of songs at his gigs reflects this.

In 2026, David releases the EP Red Roses. The title track is a haunting reflection on love that once felt unbreakable but now lingers only in memory. The song traces the quiet aftermath of a relationship’s end— where words once spoken with certainty fade into echoes, and the smallest reminders carry the heaviest weight.
