GARY and SUE BALL are native west Texans and have been singing together as a family for 30 years. Their dads were both swing musicians years ago, so they grew up with western swing in the style of Bob Wills and traditional country music from yesteryear.
Their daughter Sherry Luster plays the acoustic bass guitar, Sue plays rhythm and Gary plays lead. They love to sing three-part harmony and have a lot of fun with their music.
The family have been running the Ball Ranch Chuckwagon Supper & Western Show in Abilene, Texas, for over 30 years and have produced six CDs. Their stage show features a variety of music from authentic cowboy songs sung in tight family harmony in the style of the Sons of the Pioneers to Western Swing, Country and Gospel.
Their 2013 album “”Cowboy’s Last Words”” has been nominated for swing album of the year by the Western Music Association. It’s not the first time The Ball Family have been in the running for this accolade, they were nominated in 2011 thanks to their album “”Texas To A ‘T'””.
The family have performed on the Shotgun Red Variety Show which was shown on US national TV and were nominated by best Western Group/Duo award at the Academy of Western Artists in both 2011 and 2012.
