Recorded mostly during lockdown, the album is the result of a chance meeting between Phil and former Nashville drummer and producer Justin Johnson in Phil’s hometown Scarborough.

The songs reflect the emphasis Phil places on lyrics, telling stories of everyday people and their emotions.

Includes “Midasville” and “That Same Old Song”.

Blabber ‘n’ Smoke: For the most part, Songs From The Back Room is a very laid back affair. Guitars glisten and pedal steel does indeed swoon, but the primary focus is on Hooley’s well-grained voice which is like a finely aged malt whisky.
