Rawley Taylor makes his music on an island out in the Baltic sea. The place belongs to Sweden and is called Gotland – full of history, an unspoiled coastline and overcrowded with tourists during the summer months. Something like where he has his roots in glorious Devon.
He pumps his music across the waves hoping someone out there is listening!
Is it country music? Perhaps not all of it but boundaries are made to be stretched.
Rawley started his association with UKCountryRadio.com more than 15 years ago with a song called Gasoline at a time when electric vehicles were still very much a thing of the future.
His musical journey has had many stops on the way, from folk music and folk/jazz fusion, picking up some bluegrass and country pop with a dose of smooth jazz here and there. The journey isn’t over yet.
There are five albums out there in the digital world. Some can be ordered as physical CDs as well.
The last five years have been very quiet. Life happened.
But now, in 2026, work on a new album called Back and Blue to be released at the end of the year is well under way.
The songs cover a wide range of music from country pop to smooth jazz with some dark folk and even an amusing track with a very French feeling.
A single from the album called Jesse was released in August.
Jesse is a nostalgic country ballad which describes how it feels when life is passing you by at record speed and you have so many memories to look back on and perhaps many regrets too as you grow older.
The years are spinning by so fast while the days themselves can pass so slowly. A song that maybe those of us reaching or about to pass our best sell-by dates can identify with. What happened to my friends? Will I see them again?
