Nilsen’s Southern Harmony

Nilsen’s Southern Harmony is a very popular and active live band from Norway fronted by Bjoern Nilsen. They are known for their infectious positivity, and joy of playing music. Their songs have been featured in several TV series and movies including the Netflix series DAG.

Bjoern is one of a handful of European composers who has been invited several times to the prestigious Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival, with some of the biggest songwriter names in the US. He has had more than 80 of his songs recorded by other artists, including Linda Gail Lewis, Dallas Moore, Billy Don Burns, Drew Howard and several big Norwegian acts.

Nilsen’s Southern Harmony’s 2024 album Sugarado is a collection of songs composed with American songwriters Austin Church, Ricky Whitley, Karren Pell, and Jeff Wasserman. The music is at a crossroads where country and rock meet, with traces of pop and blues. The lyrics say something about the worries and joys of everyday life. “Pray Like You Mean It” was nominated for Country Song of the Year at LDM Music Awards, and it made the prestigious American Songwriter playlist – Hot Indie Favorites.

The band’s previous album, Coastology, received really good reviews and a lot of radio play, in Norway and around the world. After that, Nilsen’s Southern Harmony contributed to five songs on the international release A Tribute to Joe Sun.
