JakLash Cat is a three-piece Chester band, with an Americana / country rock influence. Mainly performing their own songs they can, if required, include a number of covers.
The line-up consists of Phil Blundell on rhythm guitar and vocals, John Evans on bass guitar and Steve Pyne on lead guitar. Phil is the songwriter in the band.
They have appeared on Liverpool Football Club’s Sky TV channel and at a number of festivals including, annually, the Nantwich Jazz and Blues Festival. Additionally, they have played at a number of live venues in Chester and the surrounding area.
Promises and Vows, their first album, was released in April 2019 and was reviewed in the July edition of Maverick country music magazine.

The band’s latest album Shooting Star was released in April 2023 and can be heard on Spotify, Soundcloud and other music platforms. It has had many positive reviews including one by Alan Harrison on his Rocking Magpie Radio Show when he said: “You’d normally associate quality like this with household names from America/Canada on or about their 4th or 5th album”.
The CD version is available for purchase wherever the band is appearing live, or from the UKCountryRadio.com Online Music Store.
Shooting Star, the title track of the album was a finalist for The UKCountryRadio.com Song Award in 2024.
The band plans to increase their fan base so they can share their music as widely as possible.
