Bob King, affectionately known as British Country Music’s Gentle Giant, is an award winning Country Music Entertainer who has travelled the length and breadth of the British Isles and beyond; bringing his style of Country Music to the many Country Music clubs and Festivals throughout the land.
Bob spent the first sixteen years of his life in the South West of Scotland in his home town of Kilmarnock, before moving south of the border to settle in the Manchester area where he learned his trade with the British based Irish showbands until he cut his teeth as a solo performer. A role he has maintained to the present and eventually to his current home in the East Midlands town of Mansfield in Nottinghamshire.
Bob also worked for a time with the British and Irish Country Music News and Roots magazine, reporting on the Irish connection to Country Music on mainland Britain. During his time on the magazine, Bob got to meet many of the stars from the Emerald Isle who have remained friends to this day.
Another string to Bob’s bow is his songwriting ability, a talent which has been appreciated on several releases out of the Emerald Isle as well as on the recordings Bob has released himself.
Join Bob for his monthly show The Irish Country Music Hour. Hear it on the third Tuesday of each month at 8pm – repeated the next day, Wednesday, at 4pm.
