I have decided to insert a photo of both Margaret and myself, because, as they say, behind every man is a good woman. The photo was taken in Edinburgh ahead of An Evening With Curtis Steigers to celebrate my 65th birthday.
I have been involved in music for 55 years, from school through to being a professional musician with a soul band in the 60s, a live recording with Del Shannon, and as a semi-pro with a rock band in the 70s and a country band in the 80s and 90s. I then decided to pursue an ambition to present on local radio.
This opportunity came in 1990 when local station Radio Borders began transmitting. In the seven years before a decision was made to drop country music from its schedule, I had the privilege to meet and interview quite a few of the American stars of country music including Vince Gill, Garth Brooks, Johnny Cash, Marty Stuart, Suzy Bogguss and many others.
Music is still very much part of my life, playing locally for charity with a group of guitarists and visiting country music clubs in my home area of the Scottish Borders and beyond. It was through Graham L Hall who has been a friend since we met through country music in the eighties that I was introduced to Allan Watkiss and UKCountryRadio.com, I thoroughly enjoy presenting the mid morning programmes and hope to continue for as long as I draw breath.
As the saying goes if you enjoy the programme half as much as I do that means I enjoy it twice as much as you.
Join Brian every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning from 10am, including "Three Of The Best", "Love Songs At Eleven", and "The UK Country Showcase" from 12noon.
