STONEWALL JACKSON AND DONNY RICHMOND’s recording of “Jesus Is My Lifeline”, written by Stonewall, has made history on several different levels. First released in 1996, the song became the longest running #1 national Chart Hit in the history of the Music City News and Gospel Voice Christian Country Charts, and won multiple Awards, including Vocal Event of The Year (pictured above) and the Legendary Achievement Award, presented to Stonewall and Donny on the Grand Ole Opry (pictured below). Re-released in 2006 throughout Europe on Paul Davis’ New Christian Music CD, it once again reached #1, on both the Contemporary Christian and Country Charts.
“Jesus Is My Lifeline” is featured on the “Stonewall Jackson & Super Friends” CD, recorded during the 1990’s, a historic collaboration of over 50 of country music’s best loved artists, such as Garth Brooks (pictured with Stonewall & Donny in studio), Vince Gill, Alison Krauss, Tim McGraw, Charlie Daniels, and Roy Acuff in his last recorded performance.
Stonewall Jackson was a mentor to Donny Richmond when Donny first reached Nashville in 1992. The two struck up an immediate friendship, and Stonewall encouraged Donny to record some songs he had written, which led to the duet, produced by Stonewall’s son, “Turp”.
Stonewall Jackson is considered a cornerstone, after Hank Williams and Lefty Frizzell, of the hard driving honky tonk sound of the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. Between 1959 and 1971, Jackson had 35 Top 40 Country hits. His “Waterloo” single also crossed over into the Billboard Hot 100 Pop Charts, and reached #24 on the U.K. Pop Singles Chart. Stonewall is now a 60 year veteran of the Grand Ole Opry!
Donny Richmond is a recipient of the Living Legend Award from the Country Gospel Music Assn. in Branson, USA. Other national Awards include Artist of The Decade, Entertainer of The Decade, Male Vocalist, Songwriter, Producer, and Top Int’l TV Personality. His music videos and TV shows have aired on national TV networks around the globe, and as an actor, his upcoming movies include “The Christmas Reunion”(released Nov. 2016), and “Saving Faith”(released Spring 2017), which also features appearances by Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, and Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts.
Donny has scored 13 national #1s on various charts in the U.S., beginning in 1993, and numerous hits on the Country and Gospel Charts in Europe.
