• Chris D. Smith
  • One thing is for sure: you can’t call CHRIS D.SMITH a one-trick pony!

Is he a singer-songwriter? Sure, he is.
Does he play rock, country, folk or blues music, …? Hell yeah, he does.

Basically Chris is making his own stew out of the music that influenced him in his youth: Sixties pop/rock icons The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Who, the Chicago Blues of Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf, blues-rockers Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin, folk and country-rockers The Byrds, The Band and Gram Parsons and singer-songwriters Neil Young, Jackson Browne, Bruce Springsteen and Tom Waits.

But perhaps the person that really drove him into songwriting is Bob Dylan. His debut "Words" was a good effort, which for the first time highlighted his songwriting skills. Also it showed his ability to write songs in various genres, from the country ballad "Lady M", to the stone cold blues of "Blues to the Bone" and the folk-rock of the title song "Words".

September 2014 brought the release of Chris's second album "A.D.2014 "which received raving reviews from roots music lovers and magazines all over Belgium and the Netherlands. Teaming up for this album with the finest musicians in Belgium, "A.D.2014" has become a very strong effort in exploring the boundaries of folk rock, country rock, americana, rock and blues rock.
