STEVEN JAMES released his two debut singles in June 2014. Since then, The Steven James Band have hit the road, crisscrossing the Southern United States, turning on as many new fans as possible ahead of a full-album release in March 2015.
The prolific singer who often draws comparisons to a young John Mellencamp, Van Morrison or the sounds of Kings of Leon, has teamed up with acclaimed producer/engineer Lars Goransson from Austin, Texas where Steven James lived for nearly a decade. Goransson has produced international hit records from groups including The Cardigans; and some of Austin’s music royalty including What Made Milwaukee Famous, Alpha Rev and Fastball.
Steven's live shows have seen him visit some of the America's top music destinations including Austin, Nashville and Los Angeles.
He has racked up radio and Internet plays in his home state of Texas, along the East Coast and has now gained several articles and radio airplay in France and the UK.
Between shows, Steven James has sped up the freeway from his home on the Texas Gulf Coast to record at Sounds Outrageous Studios in Austin, known as the Live Music Capital of the World.
What has emerged from these sessions are some of the catchiest and most personal collection of tunes Steven has ever put to tape.
“Being in the studio with Lars has really pushed me to take my songwriting and performing to the next level,” Steven James said. “He has years of experience crafting powerful songs, and a studio full of vintage gear that has given my music a sound that I never knew I had,” James added.
Both professed Beatles and Rolling Stones junkies, Goransson’s passion for authentic, classic gear and Steven's natural talent for melody has churned out a collection of songs that hark back to the days of rock and country’s golden eras – with a fresh twist.
From recording vocals on the same microphone used by the Rolling Stones on their masterful album, “Exile on Main Street” or recording with the exact 12-string guitar used by Led Zeppelin on “Stairway to Heaven” - the textures and tones on this new record have clearly elevated Steven James’ sound.
“I ‘m excited for the world to hear these songs,” Steven James shared. “They are new, but familiar at the same time. I think they’re going to resonate with a lot of music fans.”
Heading into 2015, Steven is gearing up for a new album release, festival dates around America, a European-tour and an appearance at the 2015 South By Southwest Music Festival. His full album is due to be released in March 2015.
