• Ivor James
  • Ivor James has been performing on the country music circuit for over 20 years, but his background in music goes back to 1957 when he formed a Skiffle group with three school mates. He always loved country music and in fact had two great uncles who had a hillbilly band in 1946!

Ivor, having semi retired, has now decided to dust himself off and start again. He is able to cater for any type of country music audience, from traditional to modern Country Music, with songs suitable for Listening audiences, or Freestyle to Line and Partner dancing, and also features many of his self-written songs. He can also deliver a fully acoustic evening show if required, as he will be doing for UKCountryRadio.com at The Anchor at Upton - on - Severn in Worcestershire on 19th April 2014.

In 2011, Ivor released an album entitled 'Saved From Extinction' which is partly a reference to Ivor re-inventing his act and partly due to the song 'That's What They Said About The Buffalo', one of the songs featured on the album. Ivor has recorded and produced the album himself and has also produced some of the backing tracks.

In November 2012, Ivor went to see country music legend Larry Gatlin at Fred's Place in Nottingham. During the show, Larry asked for requests As Ivor was sitting at the front, he shouted out and asked for Larry to sing "Love Is Just A Game". Larry asked how Ivor knew the song - to which he replied that he had recorded it. Larry invited Ivor on stage to sing the song with him. Ivor says, as a long standing fan, he was only too pleased to oblige!

In 2013, Ivor released his latest album "I Don't Need Your Rocking Chair". The album reflects Ivor's repertoire - from old to new country, played in all setting from the concert-style shows to the Line Dance scene. Ivor believes you don't have to be young to enjoy and play modern country music.

Ivor's 2014 release, "Country Down To My Soul" featured more of his favourite songs, including a couple written by his friends Alan Cameron and Pete Redfern. In 2015, "Me 'N' Merle" was released, on which Ivor pays tribute to Merle Haggard. Ivor does not attempt to mimic Merle's voice or delivery, but to bring you his own interpretation of the songs".
